Darnell McDonald!

For those who haven't heard of this MAn he is the Red Sox newest savior. He is a 13 year veteran of the minor leagues and he was called up Tuesday from AAA Pawtucket. Flash forward to the eighth inning of Wednesday's game he is pinch hitting with the Red Sox down by two runs. In his first at bat in the most historic park in baseball history he puts a bomb over the green monster. After tying the game McDonald comes back to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded. No writer could have scripted it better. He sends another shot off the green monster and this time it brings home the winning run. I love sports stories like this, Darnell has been playing in places like Durham North Carolina and Pawtucket Rhode Island and then with one phone call he is thrust into a high pressure situation in arguably the most recognizable and historic place in baseball lure. This is the beauty of the baseball farm system, it separates the sport from any other in that at any time you can be called up and asked to perform like McDonald did last night. This sMAll spark could be just what the Sox need to get this thing turned around.

P.S- McDonald hit another homer about 15 minutes ago. Can you say replacement for big papi?
