New Lupe Video

This song is awesome. Lupe is one of my favorite MC's and I expect Lasers to be a very good album. This video was done by the same people who did the MAnsions on the Moon video I posted a couple days ago.

Ricky Williams and Eminem

I just finished watching a documentary about the Dolphins running back Ricky Williams and it was aMAzing. It was part of the 30 for 30 series on ESPN. 30 documentaries on various topics in sports. Five years ago Ricky Williams was one of the most hated people in sports. He had just failed his fourth drug test for MArijuana and had just spent months in Australia abandoning his teamMAtes and family. At the time he had three children to three different women and with his marijuana history was portrayed by the media as a selfish person who hated football. the documentary shows his travels to Australia and California in which he studies the art of holistic healing and eventually converts to buddhism, becoming a certified yogi in the process. All throughout the interviews in 2004 you see Williams as a MAn searching for an identity and a deeper meaning to life. It seems like a pot head thing to do and although most of us would condemn him for leaving his family and all the money the Miami Dolphins were paying him I found myself trying to figure out exactly why he left it all. He had been trapped in the mold of what America wanted him to be and what his peers in the football community expected him to be and in 2004 he decided to get away from it all. In a way I envied Ricky, he had the balls to go out and find what he wanted from life. I don't condone what he did to his family because leaving his children was a selfish move, but the intentions of his soul searching were brave and in a way commendable. The film was done brilliantly and showed us a side of Ricky Williams I was not aware of, at times he sounded a bit like a pot head especially in his 04 interviews, but I saw an intelligent MAn who had been misunderstood his entire professional career. Like any American I love a redemption story and as he returned in 2009 to run for 1100 yards it was good to see the final credits role as he spent time with his children. After watching the film I thought of another misunderstood "drug" addict, Eminem. Not who he is or why he does what he does but his new freestyle that was released today. It is called Despicable in which he rips Drake's Over and Llyod Banks's Beamer, Benz or Bentley. Here is a link check it out and get ready for his new single coming out next week and his newly titled album Recovery. I just read that the new single entitled Not Afraid is out this Thursday so watch out!

Gettin That Fo Sho!

Apparently this exists in the MAldives at a Hilton Resort and Spa. They put an entire wing of the hotel underwater. What an awesome experience it would be to eat, bone, sleep, and hang out directly under schools of fish and the beauty of the ocean. MAking enough money to afford a nice weeks vacation at this resort is definitely something going on my bucket list. Pretty soon there will be rooms suspended in air and we will literally be able to sleep under the stars. Corny I know but it MAkes me wonder exactly what us huMAns are going to come up with next merely to keep ourselves entertained. It must be aMAzing for senior citizens to read about stuff like this and have images of TVs not even being color pop into their brains. What's next?

MAnsions On The Moon

This band has a great name for one thing. Saw this video on 2dopeboyz and I love the song and video. This band seems pretty cool has a MGMT feel in way. Check out the Video.

The Truth!

He MAkes his name felt! The Truth! Hit the shot we all needed! Killah B's MAy have lost but Pierce salvaged the night. The two Florida Linebackers should come in handy but AZ Tight End I don't know. Sox won as well. Sox need to MAke up ground quick. Boston in straight shape kind of. Alcohol MAkes the night go by quicker. Had a great night at Zocalo, if you haven' tasted their tacos and sangria please do! ZOCALO! Hit it up!

McCourty

I guess this is what Bill was doing while MAking this pick. We didn't need a CB. He wasn't a interception specialist. He's known for his special team work. Why couldn't we pick Kindle? We already been through the Tyrone Wheatley, Patrick Chung experiment. We need a pass rusher, we need a pass catching TE. Look for Kindle to be scooped up if he is still there, doubtful though. MAybe someone like Everson Griffin, also watch for Aaron Hernadez a TE from Florida via Conn is he is around in that 43-54 range in which the Pats have 3 picks. I guess we have to listen to Bill.

Darnell McDonald!

For those who haven't heard of this MAn he is the Red Sox newest savior. He is a 13 year veteran of the minor leagues and he was called up Tuesday from AAA Pawtucket. Flash forward to the eighth inning of Wednesday's game he is pinch hitting with the Red Sox down by two runs. In his first at bat in the most historic park in baseball history he puts a bomb over the green monster. After tying the game McDonald comes back to the plate in the bottom of the ninth with the bases loaded. No writer could have scripted it better. He sends another shot off the green monster and this time it brings home the winning run. I love sports stories like this, Darnell has been playing in places like Durham North Carolina and Pawtucket Rhode Island and then with one phone call he is thrust into a high pressure situation in arguably the most recognizable and historic place in baseball lure. This is the beauty of the baseball farm system, it separates the sport from any other in that at any time you can be called up and asked to perform like McDonald did last night. This sMAll spark could be just what the Sox need to get this thing turned around.

P.S- McDonald hit another homer about 15 minutes ago. Can you say replacement for big papi?

B's Win

Yesterday the Bruins took a 2-1 lead in there first round playoff series against the Sabres and I decided to post this video of an enormous hit by Johnny Boychuck. This team play physical hockey and with Rask playing out of his mind in goal this team could MAke some noise in the East.

As for the other Boston team in the playoffs. I think it was pretty weak that KG was suspended by regardless it is absolutely essential the Celts keep home court by winning tonight. They can't afford to have a let down, this team is not the 08 or or even the 09 Celtics, they are far more inconsistent and vulnerable. I hope to see Big Baby step up in the absence of KG. God forbid that the MAn pictured above plays at the level we all hoped and expected him to.

Guru Dead

For anyone who has ever heard of the rap group Gang Starr the MC Guru, pictured on the right, has died a month after having surgery for a heart attack. He was only 43 years old. It is said that the cause was cancer related as Guru had been battling the disease for a long time. This group is underrated and Guru as an MC was gritty, raw and had one of my favorite rap voices of all time. He was an icon in the 90's and was born and raised in Boston MAss. His raps and the beats of DJ Premier was a team that was legend in the landscape of hip-hop. As anyone who looks at this site can see his words grace your eyes every visit, "Wild with my monotone style". R.IP Guru.

Dear Sox Nation,

It hasn't been much fun, it hasn't been what we want but let's all just stay calm. Some of you MAy feel like the little kid above or even angrier but please my fellow Sox lovers no worries. I haven't talked much about the Sox because frankly it is way to early to be panicking. Now not much of this early season has been encouraging, the offense is lackluster and baseball's rotation has not pitched well enough to deserve any praise close to that. But the baseball season is way to long to be out of it already. A great example of why we should not fret Sox Nation is the Yankees of last year. They started the year at about .500 and through the first 32 games they were 15-17. Now our start is a little worse at 4-9 but the fact is that with a six game home stand against Texas and Baltimore the Sox can very easily get right back on track. Another thing to remember is that either the Rays or Yankees will fade. Not fade away but they will not win at this rate for the entire season, with the randomness of injuries and hitting slumps it is safer to hold any World Series or playoff predictions for August not April.
Sincerely A Quietly Confident Member,
Mike MArinella

4/20

For some it means nothing, for others it means 26.2 miles of agony, and for others it means power hours and recklessness. MArathon Monday should become a holiday in the city of Boston officially. It felt like the entire campus was inebriated by about noon time and on such a beautiful day like it was yesterday happiness was contagious. It was aMAzing to see the amount of people who were in such high spirits to watch thousands of people simply run by. I mean I know alcohol has a huge say in that but nevertheless it is arguably the best day to be in Boston. Not only were there hundreds of thousands of people to see the actual race but the Red Sox always hold an 11:05 first pitch in what is usually a great baseball game, not yesterday's loss against the Rays. Last year it was aMAzing because 4/20 and Marathon Monday fell upon the same day.
Cypress Hill and Devin the Dude will release albums today in an ode to this unofficial stoner holiday. But seeing as I have a marketing pitch to set up by 7pm and a newspaper article to re-type I will not be participating in the festivities like many of my brethern. In other music news it is only a week until the release of B.O.B's debut which features a great track called Airplanes pt. 2 which has a sick verse from MArshal MAthers. Also my boy Burbank set up a blog and I read the first post and enjoyed what he's got going on so check him out, http://gqburbs.blogspot.com/. Lastly in honor of the spirit of today here is a link, so to all those blazin today much love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uvEFKLS8S4

MArshall Trade and Kush and Orange Juice

Brandon MArshall was traded to the Dolphins and it leaves me scratching my head about what in the hell the Patriots are doing? More specifically what they aren't doing. I mean it doesn't MAke a lick of sense. We need a wideout. We need a linebacker. We need a corner or two. We need a safety. Yet no newcomers have been signed. I have faith in the draft but I don't think we will find starters or big contributers at every one of those positions. Let's hope both the Jets and Dolphins implode during the season because frankly the slight glimmer of hope to MAke the playoffs is disappearing quickly.

In huge music news today. Kush and Orange Juice the new Wiz Khalifa mixtape is out and I haven't even listened to the entire thing yet that's how fresh my download is. Above is the cover and a link to the download. http://2dopeboyz.okayplayer.com/2010/04/14/wiz-khalifa-kush-orange-juice-mixtape/#more-92388

Kanye West Blog and "Wicked Summer"

So apparently MTV is doing a Jersey Shore spinoff in Boston. Although I loved Jersey Shore, I was happy the brainless juice heads were from somewhere else. I grew up here and I know there is a plethora of d-bags in the commonwealth. I know they will cast any jacked guy who says "wherrsss the cahhh?". If something isn't broke don't fix it! People love the Jersey Shore and us "MAssholes" would like to stay here and not be humiliated by a select few. Anyways we all now know it's going to happen and MTV will have another big hit. Let's hope not to MAny unsuspecting Bostonians get mollywhopped by drunk cast members of "Wicked Summer". It's a very crappy title too.

If you haven't had a chance to see Kanye West's new blog you should check it out. It is some of the more random assortment of words and pictures I have ever seen. There are MAny nude models and odes to fashion, I was most alarmed when I saw a video of a school play depicting the gangster flick Scarface, yes school children were reenacting Scarface. What has the world come to when that is allowed? Here is a link be sure to give it a peek, http://www.kanyewest.com/home/.

Over by Drake

Here is the visual representation of Drake's first single off Thank Me Later. Album was recently pushed back again until June 15th.

National Champs

2 out 3. City of Boston has kept the national hockey championship trophy on the same street for the past 3 years. I am not only happy because my school won but it is yet another piece of proof that Boston is by far the best sports city anyone has ever heard of. Jerry York is sneaking up into the status of legendary coach with another title. Parade today should be fun and it is much deserved on a team that few picked to be back in the title game at the beginning of the season.

StickBall

Always wanted to play this game. Looks like great fun. This video includes cameos from Q-Tip and Asher Roth. It features some hot Nike's too. I don't know the song but the background music is perfect for the vibe.

Tiger Back

Look at that smile. He looks like a creep. We should have suspected something.

Yesterday it was 89 degrees in Boston. A record for so early in April. It was an aMAzing treat but by Saturday it should be 50 degrees and raining so what was the point? Today the enigMA that is Tiger Woods returns to the links. Frankly I'm picking Tiger. It's probably outrageous to think but I am only thinking about Tiger as a competitor and golfer not as a MAn. I think he has been chomping at the bit to get back to MAking the entire PGA tour look stupid. He will be in the safe haven of Augusta not to mention he loves the course and more often then not plays the crap out of it. In other sports news, Boston College plays Miami of Ohio in the Final Four of Men's Ice Hockey. Miami is the number one overall seed it will be a very tight game and hopefully the Eagles pull of the win. Steve Donohue was introduced to media and students yesterday. I attended the pep rally and Donohue is excited to be here he called the job a "grand slam" I love it! Don't know how true that is but I appreciated the passion. He also trashed the Yankees which instantly got my vote of confidence. Wish the Sox didn't blow the Lackey gem yesterday but the season is very long and as the Yankees proved last year April and MAy mean nothing. The starting pitching seems to be in decent shape but Papelbon worries me, he needs to add another pitch or he is in trouble.

BC to Hire Donohue

Reports from Boston.com have surfaced about the apparent hiring of ex-Cornell coach Steve Donohue as the new Eagles basketball coach. The deal is not official but ESPN describes that he will take the job unless a bomb erupts during final negotiations. I have to say out of all the coaches that were left on the MArket he was the best available. I would have loved Mooney but I am happy BC didn't revert back to a Al Skinner assistant. Hopefully Donohue's success from Cornell's Sweet 16 run will carry over into the ACC. Now the question is will he be able to recruit better or even as good as Skinner? Al Skinner MAy not have brought in blue-chippers but he brought in NBA type talent as shown by Craig Smith and Jared Dudley. I pray that Donohue experiences at least the same level of success as Skinner or else this whole ordeal was a waste.

The Ship

Butler! Go Bulldogs! Hate Duke, it's an easy pick for me. Butler may be young but I love the Bulldogs. They are a great cinderella story. They play at the same stadium where the championship game of the movie Hoosiers was shot! How can you pick against them? Brad Stevens is the MAn. Go Butler!

DRE

I heard about the song with Jay-Z coming out but had no idea about the kick ass beats he was promoting. Those are the coolest headphones off all time. Dre had a great day yesterday witnessing the Celtics beat the Cavs while sitting court-side then watching the sox persevere 9-against the evil empire.

What a great Easter for Bostonians by the way. Although the C's almost blew it, that game was a playoff atmosphere and playoff intensity. 6 technical fouls, one coach getting tossed, Rasheed yelling at the refs and his coach for no good reason. Ray was un-human shooting the three. Paul needs to step up come playoff time but we played very well considering Doc chose not to us MArquis Daniels or Nate Robinson. As for the Sox. It was discouraging being down 5-1 but the Sox bats proved to stand up to the "scary" Yankees lineup and deliver when it mattered. Huge days by newcomers Adrian Beltre, Mike Cameron and MArco Scutaro combined with the usual All-Star efforts from Pedoria and Youkilis saved the Sox from a very mediocre Beckett outing. The bullpen looked pretty good outside of Ramirez's 2 runs.

NYC

Just got back from NYC. I MAy hate the Yankees, Giants, Jets, well the Mets don't bother me but NYC is a great place to be. Being 21 didn't hurt the experience either. Here are some kind of boring pics some sites I saw.

Final Four

I'm picking Michigan State and WVU. Michigan State has in my opinion the best coach in college basketball and WVU has Da' Sean Butler the most clutch player left in the tourney. I think that both games will go down until the last minutes as both gams feature teams with similar grind it out styles. Duke and Butler will put up great fights but I don't think Butler has the athleticism and Duke lacks the depth to beat WVU. In the end I see Tom Izzo cutting down the nets Tuesday night. Go SPARTY!
