Skinner Fired

BC basketball coach Al Skinner was fired today. There was a mutual agreement between AD Gene DeFilippo last week before Skinner interviewed for the coaching opening at St. John's. After a 15-16 season the decision is still a little shocking. The Eagles have been to 7 out of the last 10 NCAA tournaments which isn't bad. The emerging candidates are Richmond head coach Chris Mooney, Harvard head coach Tommy AMAker, Northeastern coach Bill Coen, and Cornell Steve Donahue. My vote is for the Cornell head MAn. After seeing what he could do with Ivy League talent I would be optimistic with the possibilities of his success with ACC talent. Skinner had a great run and brought a lot of success to the program as well as NBA talent. I think the key is to get a coach who can recruit nationwide and I don't know if BC has the basketball clout to draw someone like that to the opening. Reports say DeFilippo looks to make a hiring within the next week or so.

Butler Wins- Gus Johnson Narrates OT Thriller

The Orange went down today as the only reMAining top seeds are Duke and Kentucky. Butler outplayed a very talented Cuse team. The Orange could have used the injured big MAn Arinze Onuaku. The Bulldogs defense was relentless and swingMAn Gordon Hayward was clutch in the second half. Kentucky took care of Cornell as the cinderella Ivy league champs run was ended. West Virginia struggled with Washington but pulled away in the second half. For anyone who hasn't ever heard of Gus Johnson he is a sportscaster for CBS sports and is notorious for his inspired commentary. As Kansas State and Xavier battled into double overtime I was overcome with excitement and joy because of Gus Johnson. Don't get me wrong the game was aMAzing. Jacob Pullen and Terrell Hollway kept exchanging threes like it was child's play. The factor that kept me on the edge of my seat was Gus's priceless one liners and enhancement of every play down the stretch. Here is a link to a mixtape of Gus Johnson's greatest hits. Thank you Gus for MAking the MArch MAdness so much crazier! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkiM3tBJVhk

NY-Z

This video is a mini documentary on Jigga's concert at MSG on 9/11/09. It is directed by Danny Clinch. I think that the choice to do it in black and white was a great choice looks very raw and shows some amazing pictures on NYC. There is a cameo by John MAyer. Here is the video check it out.

Route 21

It's getting more and more daunting this whole 21 thing. Still not even sure what I am doing this weekend as I enter adulthood. No big rager but we will see what life throws at me. Plan on getting more inebriated than usual. Happy that the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight will be transpiring Saturday and Sunday so if you hear about a Boston MAn throwing a fit over the next Northern Iowa upset, that's me. I MAy be turning 21 but I still don't have a job for this summer which is very unbecoming as I am about to become a more responsible human being. MArch 30th also MArks a monumental day as my roomMAtes will embark to the Middle East Cambridge to see the MAn, myth, and rising star Wiz Khalifa. The next day in the tradition of the Catholics Boston College gives us a glorious 5 day weekend in which I will be seeing the Lebron Queen's battle the Celts on Easter Sunday. I predicted the big win at Dallas and I expect another big win on Easter in order to truly honor Heysus Christo. I have found some great music lately so Wednesday expect a bevy of quality tunage.

Worst Bracket Ever

On the third day of the NCAA tourney the number one overall seed, my pick for champion Kansas, lost to number 9 seed Nothern Iowa. I blew it this year. According to the ESPN bracket challenge I have had a 2% success rate and I am in dead last. There goes my faith in expert analysis and my own sports knowledge. Oh well, like they say there is always next year not to mention this could be the most entertaining tournament I can remember. Look for teams like MAryland and Michigan State to MAke moves in the midwest region.

My Bracket Sucks!

Wow, Murray State!!! Wow, Florida goes down in double OT. UTEP doesn't even show up. ODU? I mean some people saw all these wins coming but it has been a horrendous start for me. Nova coming back to win was huge.

MArch MAdness- Long Post But Quality Picks

Folks it's arguably the most entertaining athletic day of the year and that day is the first day of the first round of the NCAA men's division 1 basketball tournament. It MAy not be until tomorrow but it's so close I feel like it is already upon us. I will be providing my picks round by round in each region.

East Region:
First Round
Kentucky over ETSU- DeMArcus Cousins will have a huge game.
Texas over Wake- Texas will beat a mediocre Wake team.
Temple over Cornell- Everyone is picking Cornell and forgetting that Temple is a good team. Go OWLS!
Wisconsin over Wofford- Jon Leur is a hugely underrated Big 10 talent.
MArquette over Washington- Marquette is undersized but extremely talented and hungry
New Mexico over Montana- No upset here New Mexico is a solid 3 seed
Mizzou over Clemson- Clemson is to inconsistent and Missouri's uptempo game will give them problems
West Virginia over Morgan State- WVU is a scary team in this region

Second Round
Kentucky over Texas- This will be a great game. If the potential number one ranked Texas team shows up Kentucky could have problems but I don't see that happening.
Temple over Wisconsin- I love Wisconsin as a program but this Temple team is being over looked by MAny experts, they beat Villanova, Siena, and lost to G-Town by 1. This team is good.
MArquette over New Mexico- Buzz Williams is a young coaching star and I see his experienced guards outplaying New Mexico's guards and advancing to the sweet sixteen.
West Virginia over Missouri- This game will feature two athletic teams playing hard but Missouri is over-MAtched.

Sweet Sixteen
Kentucky over Temple- Kentucky is too big and too good for the Owls.
West Virginia over MArquette- In a big east battle West Virginia will just edge out MArquette.

Elite Eight
This regional final will come to which team plays better defense. Kentucky will have to stop Da'Sean Butler, Kevin Jones and Devin Ebanks. West Virginia has John Wall, DeMArcus Cousins and Eric Bledsoe. This is a real tough pick because both coaches can motivate their players to defend for a trip to the final four. In the end I have to go with the senior leadership that Kentucky lacks and West Virginia has. WVU will head to Indianapolis.

South Region:
First Round
Duke over APB- Obvious.
Louisville over Cal- The Pac-10 has been too weak to prepare the Bears for Lousiville.
A&M over Utah States- In a battle of the Aggies, Texas is a dangerous 5 seed.
Siena over Purdue- Siena is a solid MAC champ and Purdue without Robbie Hummel isn't as scary or as good.
Notre Dame over ODU- I hate picking the Irish but it is St. Patty's Day.
Baylor over Sam Houston State- This is a talented versatile team that can go far in this region.
St. MAry's over Richmond- The West Coast champs made Gonzaga look terrible I think they will do the same against the Spiders.
Villanova over Robert Morris- Scottie Reynolds won't let the Wildcats lose in the first round.

Second Round
Louisville over Duke- Yes I did it! Duke is the weakest number 1 to me. Louisville is very capable of pulling this off and I had to MAke this pick.
A&M over Siena- This will be an interesting MAjor mid-MAjor MAtchup. UltiMAtely A&M is superior on the inside.
Baylor over Notre Dame- Baylor is going to create a lot of mis-MAtches inside and on the perimeter.
Nova over St. MAry's- Villanova has just enough of an inside presence to beat up on the Gaels.

Sweet Sixteen
A&M over Louisville- The Cardinals run will end here due to the toughness and play of Bryan Davis. Whether or not SaMArado Samuels shows up will decide whether or not the Cardinals get past Baylor.
Baylor Over Nova- What a game this will be. Baylor has big men, Nova doesn't. The Bears will attack the paint and head to the elite eight.

Elite Eight
Baylor over A&M- A Big 12 reMAtch will be a physical battle that the Bears will pull off. The Baylor senior class has continuously been doing things their school has never achieved and this final four run is one of them.

West Region:
First Round
Syracuse over UVM- There will be no repeat like the first round upset UVM pulled off in 2005.
Gonzaga over Florida State- Florida State MAy have size but not enough to out play the Zags.
UTEP over Butler- Culpepper and Caracter are a very dynamic duo and I think they will outplay the Bulldogs of Butler.
Vandy over Murray State- Murray State is a popular upset pick but Vandy can shoot it from deep and Andrew Ogilvy is a force down low.
Minnesota over Xavier- After watching the Gophers play in the Big 10 tourney I think they have enough perimeter talent to beat Xavier.
Pitt over Oakland- Superior talent will prevail.
Florida over BYU- Jimmer is a scorer for BYU but Florida is the more complete team.
Kansas State over North Texas- Frank MArtin's team will win multiple games this year.

Second Round
Cuse over Zaga- Even is Onouaku isn't playing yet I think this one seed is just too good to lose this early.
UTEP over Vandy- I watched this team play on TV twice I just love the way they play and Caracter versus Ogilvy will be fun to watch. Go Miners!
Pitt over Minnesota- Tubby Smith will only take his team this far, Pitt and Ashton Gibbs will prevail.
Kansas State over Florida- The K-State guards will outplay the young wild guards of the Gators.

Sweet Sixteen
Cuse over UTEP- Although the Miners create MAtchup problems I don't think they will be able to handle the 2-3 zone.
Kansas State over Pitt- Curtis Kelley will prove to be the key in this matchup as the Wildcats look forward to the Orangemen.

Elite Eight
Cuse over K-state- The big MAn should be healthy by then and the Orange just have too MAny weapons on the perimeter for the wildcats to stop. If the Wildcats can play superb defense they have a chance to steal a final four trip.

Midwest Region
First Round
Kansas over Lehigh- This team has the most experience. They will win this one and more.
UNLV over Northern Iowa- Northern Iowa is a popular pick but UNLV is a very good team.
Michigan State over New Mexico State- Tom Izzo's bunch is always ready come MArch.
Maryland over Houston- Houston stole a bid to get here but they won't steal a win.
SDSU over Tennessee- I like Bruce Pearl but I like the Aztecs more!
Georgetown over Ohio- A true final four threat with Greg Monroe at the head of the ship.
Georgia Tech over Oklahoma State- This team is a force on the inside and they will physically beat down the Cowboys.
Ohio State over UCSB- UCSB is beautiful but the end result of this game won't be.

Second Round
Kansas over UNLV- Sharron Collins and Cole Aldrich will dominate.
Michigan State over Maryland- This team will end up giving Kansas fits and as long as the keep Vasquez in check they should over power Maryland.
Georgetown over SDSU- Hoyas a more talented and complete team period.
Ohio State over Georgia Tech- The BIGS of Georgia Tech MAy cause some problems but Evan Turner is too much for the Yellow Jacket guards.

Sweet Sixteen
Kansas over Michigan State- In a battle of two great coaches it will come down to weather or not the Michigan State bigs can MAtchup with Aldrich and the Morris twins. RayMAr Morgan was once a phenom at MSU but he has been inconsistent if the Spartans want to have a deep tourney run he must step us his play.
Georgetown over Ohio State- Georgetown is more complete then the SDSU. Evan Turner will have a huge game but the Hoyas are simply just a deeper team and they will end the number 2 seed's tourney.

Elite Eight
Kansas Over Georgetown- This game will down right down to the wire. These two teams when playing well are two of the most complete teams in the country. But the Kansas bench is deeper then the Hoyas so be aware the Jayhawk reserves.

Final Four
Kansas over Syracuse
A game that should be the championship frankly. The Jayhawks are the most complete and have one of the best coaches in the country. The two men pictured atop have been here before and will succeed again.
West Virginia Over Baylor
The Mountaineers are a team with stars, a experienced coach and a unique hunger for the game of basketball. Watch this team when you get a chance because you will see a team destined for glory. Baylor just doesn't have the talent to pull off another big win.

Championship- This will be a very hard MAtchup for WVU and they will battle until the end but when looking at a team like Kansas it is hard to find holes and when they are playing well and are healthy I think they are the best team in the NCAA. Bill Self will bring home another national championship to Kansas.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Although it isn't my favorite holiday I like the color green! New text and border color in honor of the day. Enjoy could be a perMAnent change not sure yet. Be merry and such. MArch MAdness picks upcoming.

Things

Word on the street is that the cast of MTV's Jersey Shore season two are in Miami filming the second season. That is good news to all of us but, and it's a big BUT, MTV has told the cast not to drink. I was dumbfounded. How on earth could MTV do this? This show is a sensation and the network wants to lessen the chance of classic moments by taking out the potent potion that is alcoholic beverages. It's plain stupid. The only reason people watch reality TV shows on MTV or VH1 is to see what these crazy drunk people will do to each other. MAybe it's because of the fights and some negative press coverage MTV is punishing the cast but the show is a ratings ace and a cash cow. Sometimes I wonder why people in powerful positions MAke the decisions they do. There is no no way in hell that the second season even scratches the surface of the plateau that the first season reached.

NIT play starts tonight. Teams like UConn, UNC, Illinois and Virginia Tech headline a field full of familiar NCAA tournament teams. UConn is barely squeaking by Northeastern at home as I type and I cannot pick them to advance very far. I am simply going to pick a final four and champion for this tournament. I think Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Memphis, and Cincinnati will be the final four left. I see Virginia Tech beating Memphis in the final. Seth Greenberg is a coach I have always liked and followed he will have the Hokies ready to play and they have something to prove after having their bubble burst sunday. By the way as far as the play in game goes, who cares? It's to decide who will lose to Duke.

12 days and I am 21. That's all.

St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow. A day of clovers and beer, leprechauns and Hate for Notre Dame. I probably won't partake in the festivities tomorrow as I have something inconvenient schoolwork to do. Never really understood what the day meant or is. Not my favorite holiday. Have fun wearing green and getting hammered everyone!

I had Anna's Taqueria today. Best Burrito of All Time. If you have never been there go. There is one at MIT, Davis Square, Coolidge Corner and I believe at least one other location. When in the Boston area go find Anna's and enjoy.

The AniMAl Planet announced today that former professional boxing superstar Mike Tyson will be getting his own show on the network. Apparently he is an avid bird lover and owns several hundred birds. He will be racing his pigeons which apparently is kind of a big deal, the races sometimes span 500 miles, who knew?

P.S- If you didn't get a chance to see Zach Galifanakis host SNL you should. Some funny skits. His monologue was great. Tomorrow look for songs and MArch MAdness picks!

NBA JAM!

EA is releasing an updated version of the 90's classic arcade game NBA Jam. Perhaps most famous for the classic commentary and truly 90's basketball phrases. This game isn't about graphics and accurateness but about entertainment. I loved it as a kid. Here is a look at the trailer.

Brackets!

A weekend with no internet was rough. I was awarded with the unveiling of the NCAA D-1 bracket! MArch MAdness has officially begun! I can't wait to see my MAn T-Hubbs go up against John Wall and Kentucky. I just found out that my Dad's office pool was shut down so I am searching for a way to find a pool and win some money. This could be a very interesting tournament as no one team has established dominance in the NCAA. Later this week I will reveal my final four picks and some sleeper teams!

Rough Night

Real MAdrid, the Yankees of Soccer, were eliminated from the Champions League today. This team was destined to take down Barcelona in the Spanish league and advance to the final four of the Champions League. Instead they have no real chance of winning either. Now the Yankees spending finally paid off, pun intended, last season but it took awhile after having the highest payroll year after year. Just an example that huge spending isn't always the answer in any sport. C's got blown out by 20. Just pathetic. Nothing else to say. Dave Johnson and the Quinnipiac Bobcats fell one hoop short on the Big Dance but shouts to him and his season. He played solid minutes as a frosh and contributed nicely. Overdo shout out to ETSU and T-Hubbs, leading scorer and leading rebounder, MAking the tourney for the second straight year, watch out number 1 seed. Erik Murphy and the Florida Gators should earn a bid after one win in the SEC tournament. St. MArk's bball alums doing it big. BC plays it's first ACC tournament game against a Virginia team they recently beat by 20 and is without best player Sylven Landesberg. With a win the Eagles would face number seed Duke. Usually we play them tough. So there is still a slight pray and hope to steal a bid in the ACC tourney. Although all the conference tournaments have already started I am going to pick winners for the major conferences anyways.

Big 10: Michigan State
Big 12: Kansas
ACC: Duke
Big East: West Virginia
SEC: Kentucky
Pac-10: ASU
Mountain West: New Mexico
A-10: Dayton

Cudder

This is an alternate version of Pursuit of Happiness that is more of what one expects when they hear the names MGMT, Ratatat and Kid Cudi. I prefer this one, even though the MAinstream MTV one isn't that bad.

Pats Re-sign Bodden

I think it's good we got Bodden back he had a solid year in a weak secondary. Now it is time for the Pats to sign some people who haven't played here before. We lost Jarvis Green to Josh McDaniels. We are about to lose Ben Watson. We need a corner, safety, tight end, linebacker, pass rusher and probably a wide-out. It's time to MAke calls and MAybe even some trade offers. The Jets have bulked up and so have the Dolphins. I wouldn't pick the Pats to win the division next year so it is time to MAke some substantial moves.

P.S- Celts blew a 4 point 4th quarter lead. Paul stunk. Ray Stunk. Rondo was awesome. 4 in a row was nice. I will be at the Garden tomorrow night to see them bounce back against a young Grizzlies team.

Biggie

It's weird I have been writing about dead people lately. It's hard to believe it's been 13 years since he died as a rap legend. I have no doubts in my mind he would be at the top of the game today. He had personality, grit, lyrics, beats, and despite being a bit husky he got some pretty ladies. I wish he was putting out tracks today rapping with Eminem, Dre, Snoop, Wayne, Jay-Z, Jadakiss, and countless others. If him and Pac were still alive who knows how different the world would be, let alone rap. Anyways go and listen to some Biggie today to honor in my opinion the best rapper of all time.

20 Days Left In My 20th Year

Lil Wayne went to jail today. Don't worry he shot something like 11 music videos before he left so I am sure we will be seeing a lot of him still. The XXL FreshMAn mixtape was released today http://2dopeboyz.okayplayer.com/2010/03/08/xxl-–-10-freshman-for-’10-mixtape/. Check it out it's a solid compilation. T.I also relased his first song since getting back from prison, it's called I'm Back appropriately, it's ok. Girltalk is coming to BC this weekend and the show sold out in 4 hours while I was in my three classes, thanks people who stood in line at 7am and probably don't know who Girltalk is.

As I read about the woMAn pictured above, MAry Josephine Ray classic name, the oldest person in the US. Today she died in New Hampshire at the age of 114. She lived in MAine, and MAssachusetts and her daughter told Yahoo News that she lived a great life and enjoyed it thoroughly. MAry got me thinking about my age and huMAn life in general. I can't even iMAgine living 94 more years. Part of me wants to enjoy a life that long but I don't know if I'd like the nursing home life. It's alarming how the MAjority of Americans ship there parents and elders to glorified coffins instead of caring for the people who cared for them. That might be what scares me the most, living amongst a group of old farts like me until the day I wither away. This MAy be a morbid post but let's be honest one day I will end up just like MAry, it sucks. In the spirit of LIFE and HOPE I would rather talk about my upcoming 21st birthday!

20 days left. Crazy. The before 21 chapter of my life will be over. Officially an adult according to society. Now I am MAture and Grown Up. What have I done? Not much but I am excited to see what the after 21 chapter has to offer. I know there will be more alcohol, a job or two, a change in wardrobe, a crappy apartment or two, but otherwise I haven't the foggiest. Honestly I haven't felt this curious about life, and the future since I was much younger. People talk about this birthday as if it the most important and yes it is a monument in life but, will this birthday change me? I hope not. I like me. I don't believe I am going to be a completely different guy, MAybe I will socialize in a few new places but otherwise I still plan on wearing sweatpants to class and shaving at a confusingly lazy rate. I don't want this big number to change who I am but I want it to signify a new batch of experiences and opportunities. I want to congratulate MAry on MAking it to 114 it's an aMAzing achievement. I would also like to congratulate my Dad for having the honor of "hosting"/financing a kick-ass 21 dinner celebration. Not sure exactly where and when, hopefully April 2nd in the Bean, but it will be happening so be on the look out.

I Do My Thing

Today a song from Cudi's sophomore album leaked. It features Snoop, who offers an OK verse. Beat is hot. It's produced by Dr. Dre, that's probably why the lackluster Snoop verse just isn't a problem. Love this rappers' style and this track oozes the essence of Cudi. Here's a link.

RAYYY!!!

Wow! How bad are the Wizards to blow that game? Ray Allen is the Celtics MVP. He is Mr. Clutch. Thank the Lord. 4 in a row. Let's Go!

Pats Sign Wilfork

Vince Wilfork finally get his money and he is know the highest paid NT in the league, as he should be. The Pats also re-signed Tully Banta Cain and Stephen Neal. Those moves all MAde sense so now it is time to add pieces. There isn't much left with Boldin going to the Ravens, Peppers to the Bears, Dansby to the Dolphins, CroMArtie to the Jets, and Antrell Rolle to the Giants. Rumors of a trade for Bears tight end Greg Olsen have surfaced and with the departure of Ben Watson it could prove to be a sMArt move.

Louisville Farewell

Kyle Kuric scored 22 second half points and led the Cardinals to an upset victory over top ranked Syracuse. One of the greatest off the bench perforMAnces I have ever witnessed. It was a fitting way to send Freedom Hall off and it will forever live as one of the greatest arenas in college basketball history.

Over by Drake

This is the first single of the upcoming Drake "classic" Thank Me Later. For hip-hops sake I hope I am thanking him later but he better MAke a classic album. All the buzz, hype, scuttlebutt whatever you want to call it about Drake has got me tired. I liked it more when nobody knew who he was. MAybe it's his style of flow, or his voice but I have grown a little tired of what he says. Sometime it feels as if his verses are just 100 different ways of saying "I'm the best, and nobody could believe I am, so here I am". After listening to the single I think the beat is fire. The hook is mediocre. The verses are ok not his best and frankly I am expecting better from him on the album. He is the supposed "GoldenBoy" of rap. This track doesn't fully do that title justice.

Finley a C

The title has double meaning, yes he is a Celtic, but it's also the grade I give the signing. I mean ehhhh. He's 37. He's been hurt. I used that picture of him because I feel like that was the last time he was relevant in the NBA. I don't think the move hurts us but I don't see it as something that will help us necessarily. Hopefully he stays healthy and finds some new found youth.

How Did Chris Brown Beat Her?

My boy Paul posted this Rude Boy Video on his facebook and it's the first time I watched the whole thing. I am left pondering what could have happened for Chris Brown to brutally beat Rihanna like he did. If anyone say the picture of her face, it was inexcusable and unexplainable. Chris Brown is forever known to me as a beautiful woMAn beater. It angers me that people still support him musically. Anyways watch this video it's a good song and flashy video.

Free Agency and a Nasty Punch

Tonight at midnight an uncapped session of NFL free agency will commence. It will be exciting to the big numbers that are thrown around and which teams will be spending the big dollars. As a Pats fans it will be interesting to see how the Patriots attack this MArket. They could lose a starting corner, tight end, offensive lineman, and defensive end so all those position should be addressed in the upcoming days as well as the draft in April. With big names like Julius Peppers, LaDanian Tomlinson, and Brandon MArshall out there teams can improve instantly. For the Pats a pass rusher and saftey or corner are essential. The secondary MArket isn't very deep but there could be enough to improve a very mediocre Pats secondary. Look for the Bears to scoop up Peppers as in the hours closely after midnight.

In a Big 12 battle last night Baylor Women's Basketball FreshMAn Brittany Griner cold-cocked Texas Tech's Jordan Barncastle. This was an ugly moment. Benches cleared and coaches were reduced to barriers as they separated players from the two teams. Now the debate will commence on how she should be punished. In my opinion the only way Brittany will truly learn from this is to take away something she will care about, at least 1 NCAA tournament game. The Big 12 Tournament just isn't as important to a team that has locked up a tournament bid. Being 6'8 she has come across a new brand of physicality in the women's college game. Having said that what she did was inexcusable. She should be punished severely. I think the only way for Griner to feel the MAgnitude of what she did is her losing an NCAA tournament game if not more then one. I am not saying this is what the University or Big 12 should decide I think this decision should come straight from the Baylor coach.

XXL 2010 FreshMAn

The FreshMAn:
J. Cole
Wiz Khalifa
Nipsey Hu$$le
OJ DA Juiceman
Freddie Gibbs
Big Sean
Fashawn
Donnis
Jay Rock
Pill
Every year XXL releases a list of 10 artists to watch each year called the "FreshMAn". This years list is stacked. Anyone who has been following the up and comers in the game knows that XXL almost nailed the list. Last year's list had names like Wale, Asher Roth, Kid Cudi, Curren$y, Blu and Charles Hamilton. Some have rose to stardom and other have stayed as internet hype. They all still contribute solidly to the game. Anyone who has knowledge of rap or follows rap blogs know this list accurately displays the MC's that have been putting out mixtapes and generating a good amount of buzz. Three or four of my favorite new rappers are on the list and it truly excites me. Big Sean, Fashawn, Wiz Khalifa and J. Cole are at the top of the class. MAny of us know Wiz Khalifa know him from his sMAsh single "Say Yeah". He is much more then that song, his mixtape Burn After Rolling is one of the most popular and buzz worthy of the year. Look for this weed loving rapper to blow up bigger in the 10. Fashawn has real lyrical skill, the Cali MC is just enjoyable to listen to. Big Sean is most famous for teaming up with Mike Posner on various tracks. He has a great story behind him and a great voice. J. Cole was featured on the Blueprint 3 and being co-signed by Jay-Z is more then enough to prove that his name is here to stay. I think the rest of the list is very solid. Nipsey Hu$$le and Jay Rock are the leaders of the new school on the West Coast. Pill has been featured on MTV as the up and comer in the south who has been co-signed by Andre 3000, he has a raw southern style that takes us back to old school OutKast. Donnis is straight out of ATL and brings an uptempo energy to his catchy tracks. Freddie Gibbs has been a beast on the mixtape scene and has been repping the Midwest hard which is good to see. I have one huge problem on the list and that is OJ Da Juiceman. I compare him to Gucci MAne. He sounds cool, and makes cool sounds. Neither has lyrical talent. Since his feature on Jadakiss's song "Who's Real", I haven't seen or heard much that MAkes him deserving of a spot. I think an artist like XV, from Kansas, is a much better MC and has more promise musically then OJ but hey I guess they can't get it entirely right. These MC's are all unique and I think the new sound they will bring to our ears is something to be excited about.

Spring Break

I woke at 130 pm. I am not on the beach. It's 37 degrees outside. None of that will be going on this break. Anyone and everyone who is going to a true spring break destination I envy you and screw you. A week full of sleep and Planet Earth in HD awaits.
