Fall TV

It has been a very good start to the Fall TV lineup. A bounty of old and new MAke weeknights a little more entertaining in the midst of the drudgery that is trying to study day in and day out. Here is a list of shows to keep an eye out for wether brand new or seasoned veterans.

First and foremost the best new show on TV is pictured above. The newest HBO super series is Boardwalk Empire starring Steve Buscemi and directed in part by MArtin Scorcese and procued executively by MArk Wahlberg. Those big names produce a show very much in the spirit of The Sopranos and has all the elements that we love in an HBO series. There is violence, sex, humor, big elaborate sets, and quality entertainment. It airs Sundays at 9pm.

Staying with HBO we must highlight the return of Eastbound and Down. The show that chronicles the life and times of Kenny Powers. Now that Kenny is in Mexico this season is sure to be as over the top ridiculous as the first. It airs on HBO at 1030 on Sundays.

Another show MAking a triumphant return is Modern Family. It sports a great cast and just a very very funny show about a family in which almost all of us can relate to. It features a gay couple and an interracial couple who are also some 25 years apart in age. It is worth checking out. It airs at 9 on Wednesdays on ABC.

Sons of Anarchy is about a prominent biker gang out west. It is intense to say the least. There are elements of family, betrayal, and intrigue that MAke it much more than just a show about harley riders. It airs at 10 on Tuesdays on FX. While we are on the subject of FX definitely check out Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League. They air at 10 and 1030 on Thursdays. Happy Watching!

Week 3 NFL

JerMichael Finley. A beast of a Tight End.

Ok, so I am very behind on predicting games but here we go for week 3 of the NFL. I am going to keep an ongoing record in order to show my devoted readers just how much or how little sports knowledge I actually possess.

Week 3
Bills at Patriots
Pick: Pats rebound after terrible second half against the Jets.

Jets at Dolphins
Pick: I am still not completely sold on the Jets but they will win a tough physical AFC East battle.

Titans at Giants
Pick: Two teams that are hard to read but I think the Giants rebounding at home.

Steelers at Bucs
Pick: Two surprising 2-0 teams will battle and I am going to go with the Bucs in a sMAll upset as the Steelers starting QB will not be able to handle a young and hungry Bucs D.

Bengals at Panthers
Pick: Jimmy Clausen will falter in his debut and the Bengals win by a couple touchdowns.

Cowboys at Texans
Pick: In a virtual must win for the Cowboys the battle for Texas supremacy will be won by the team with more talent, the Boys.

49ers at Chiefs
Pick: This is an intriguing MAtchup, the Chiefs looked so good at home against the Chargers it is tough to pick against them but I don't see the 49ers going 0-3.

Lions at Vikings
Pick: Vikings get first win of season at home versus an exciting Lions team.

Falcons at Saints
Pick: In a NFC South battle Matty Ice and the dirty birds keep it rolling and hand the Super Bowl champs their first loss.

Redskins at Rams
Pick: This will be the laugher of the week as the Skins roll.

Eagles at Jaguars
Pick: Vick will pick apart the Jags D, Eagles win big.

Raiders at Cardinals
Pick: The two teams that have only beat the Rams face off as Bruce Gradkowski gets the starting nod and also brings the Raiders another win.

Chargers at Seahawks
Pick: Pete Carroll loses to the Philip Rivers effect.

Colts at Broncos
Pick: Colts offense is too good for a Broncos D that lost to the Jags.

Packers at Bear
Pick: In a Monday Night showdown Aaron Rodgers show superiority over Jay Cutler and Mike Martz, Pack attack win it in the fourth quarter.

Come on

I am so enthused for the upcoming NBA season to roll around so as I watched SportsCenter this morning I was happy to hear Phil Jackson talking about the Miami Heat. Then I heard some incredibly showing news and almost threw up in my mouth. Yet again the media has picked a championship favorite in another MAjor american professional sports. It's no surprise the Jets got Hard Knocks and are all the talk in the NFL and neither is the Heat being the popular pick among sports media. The fact SportsCenter will be live from Miami Heat Camp all next week MAkes me sick. I understand the allure of their Big 3 but they haven't even played a game yet, not to mention SportsCenter chose this team to cover instead of the defending NBA champion LA Lakers, by the way they film live SportsCenter in LA! Perhaps this is why journalism as a whole is a dying profession, certain rich people MAking all the wrong decisions about what should be covered. Don't get me wrong the Heat will be a huge story and most likely a playoff factor but there are 2 teams who won something last season being thrown out as second rate stories heading into the season and those two teams are the Lakeshow and Celtics.

Status Check

I have been blogging sparingly but now that I am settled with my classes and everything in the new house is working things will be back to a more norMAl level within this week. I'm sure my thousands of readers have been clamoring for my weekly music posts on Wednesdays to come back so starting to tomorrow I will re-introduce that aspect of MAss Appeal to the world. This weekend LMFAO and Kid Cudder will be at Boston College so look for a post on that. I will start MAking weekly NFL predictions as well as MAke early baseball playoff picks as well. Hope I still have my few followers but nevertheless expect improvements in layout, special features, and other upgrades to the site.

MAroney Traded

I put up this picture because frankly it was the last time he was a force on the football field. It's about damn time. He didn't play much last season he didn't play last Sunday and how they have handled him has been all but a mystery to New England fans. It's hard to part with a first round talent because of the promise they have but he's been a bust plain and simple. He was a first round pick in 06 and has never lived up to the hype he and his college running MAte MArion Barber had after they both left Minnesota. He had flashes, he had a great game here and there, but he hasn't been a consistent first round talent in his Patriots tenure. With Fred Taylor, Kevin Faulk and Sammy Morris the Pats backfield was cluttered and MAroney was the weak link. Getting a 4th round pick for him is probably the best anyone would have gave at this point in time but having the Raiders first round pick in our back pocket MAkes whatever we would get in return a bonus to next Aprils draft. I always wanted him to blossom like he should have but the NFL is a business and like any other job in the world you only get one second chance.

Kanye Dance Track

Just looking at the artwork for this song you can tell it's a club banger. Stromae is a Hungarian with a Rawandian father, never heard that mix, I don't know what other stuff he has but it's a name worth looking up. Found this over on 2dopeboyz and it's a sick party song. Apparently it bumps in Europe. Here is a link to check it out. http://www.2dopeboyz.com/2010/09/06/stromae-–-alors-on-danse-rmx-f-kanye-west-gilbere-forte-fullcdq/.

Delonte Back

I mentioned rumors of this weeks ago but reports out of the Boston Herald seem to have Delonte West coming back to beantown. I think he is a great reserve wing MAn to have and he will be happy here and play well. I met him at the Celtics summer camp about 5 years ago and he's a good dude, personality disorder aside this guy could help us win a title. I think he's back in the jersey he had always belonged in. This move will be understated by MAny but I think it is a piece that MAkes repeating in the East much more possible and reaffirms the C's as a very capable title contender. Good Move Danny!
