Memorial Day

What a pleasant day this was. Played a perfect amount of wiffle ball. Cooked some primo burgers and dogs. Unfortunately New Hampshire got in the way of a perfect day. Now it all started with the stupid rule that MAssachusetts liquor stores are all closed on ChristMAs, Thanksgiving and for some reason Memorial Day. Now because my house is so frequently filled with my friends and my sisters friends there is a constant need for alcohol. Being 21 I have got the job that is driving to the liquor store. So, today after an intense verbal lashing I was forced to embark on an epic journey to Nashua New Hampshire. Now I assumed that all the liquor stores in New Hampshire carried every type of liquor inside of the store, you know beer, wine, the hard stuff. Much to my anger this is not the case, as the lady at the New Hampshire Liquor Outlet told me "we only carry the hard stuff in New Hampshire". Thanks a lot lady, and it really adds to NH's bad ass appeal. Now we headed to the next stop which was Shaw's. There was beer there yes but in this supermarket I learned that it is state law if there is a group of patrons buying liquor they all must be ID'd we attempted to empathize with the lady who worked there but she told us she would lose her job and that if I was to come back in solo she would not let me purchase the alcohol. At this point I was extremely pissed to say the least. Little did I know this entire 2.5 hour ordeal could have been solved by walking into a gas station and not even get ID'd. Needless to say this was not something I want to relive. Otherwise it has been a wonderful ode to the Veterans of our great country.

Time For 18!

This is a team. Watching Nate Robinson will a Celtics team to the NBA Finals was nothing short of aMAzing. It was not any of the big four but the number 10 guy at the end of the bench who saved our season. Ever since the trade was MAde I knew that this explosive athlete and talented scorer would help us in the postseason. This is a real team. Not much more to say. It is time to take another banner home. Celtic Pride.

Yawn

Well the Celtics dominated Orlando yet again and the MAn pictured above lead the way. It was aMAzing to watch another player step up for this team the Celtics totally disMAntled the second seeded MAgic. It was kind of sad to watch a team with so much promise after 8 easy wins against the stellar combo of the Hawks and Bobcats. Of course the MAgic can't contain us. They played nobody in the first two rounds and the Celtics brand of defense does not allow a team like the MAgic to get away with what they did against Atlanta and Charlotte.
Now as for game 4, which I will be watching from behind Orlando's bench, I expect more of the same. As for the other Boston team, the Red Sox, it was very encouraging to watch Dice-K throw a gem against a top caliber MLB team. Another encouraging sign is the continued hot hitting of David Ortiz, his average is up 100 points in less then a month. He now has 8 homers which is tied for the Red Sox lead and is back to being a force in our lineup. Also very quietly Adrian Beltre is leading the Sox in batting average an honor usually bestowed upon Kevin Youkillis. The team has been playing well of late since the two game Yankee series. In other news I still have no job but there are plenty of prospects. Otherwise Viva La Summer!

TA= Tony Allen

I was too excited to blog last night. Celtics showed the whole world that it takes a team to win a series and not one disgruntled MVP. We are playing great basketball and that's all you can ask for when Orlando is next, perhaps the hottest team in the playoffs. MAny doubt the possibility of a good series with the MAgic but I am very optimistic. It will be a fresh start for Paul Pierce and Kendrick Perkins who will be the two most important players in this next series. If Pierce steps up his scoring output and MAtches what Vince Carter is giving the MAgic we will be in every game. As for Perk he has been extremely quiet and I think if he gets his head on straight he can be a huge force both offensively and defensively. He will have the task of limiting the impact of Dwight Howard but rest Celtics fans and enjoy iMAges of Tony Allen MAshing on Jamisons face.

They Back

Remember these guys? Brought us classic like "Aw Naw" and "Po Folks". Some MAy even remember the feel good track "Good Day". It's been years since we heard from the Nappy Roots. But these two songs are pretty solid. Much more serious then Aw Naw. They will probably never escape that song but I wanted to let anyone who thought one hit wonders don't produce good music that at least these guys have been able to come up with some quality music. Their lead single is Ride, the video can be found here. The album comes out June 15th, might be worth checking out. http://www.2dopeboyz.com/2010/05/11/nappy-roots-ride-video-2/

This video is for a song called the Pursuit of Nappyness.

32 Piece Please!

Pauly P showed up. Defense was dominant. Ray was MAgnificent. Rondo didn't score until the 3rd quarter and we still dominated every aspect of the game. LeBron is not playing like an MVP which is fine with me. Now like KG said in the post game interview game 6 is a must win, the Cavs are still the best team in the league and a game 7 in Cleveland would be a struggle. The Celtics have been an inconsistent team all season and this series is no different. We have won two games in Cleveland by 32 and 18 but have also lost in Boston by 29. These two games have shown glimpses of a team capable of MAking a championship run but in order to do that we must come out Thursday guns a blazing. Now if only the Killah B's would stop dicking around and close out the Flyers.

Christian Rich

This is a video that came out today from the Chicago based twin brother tandem by the name of Christian Rich. This video visually stimulates for sure. As for the song it's a little repetitive and simple but catchy and worth a listen. They have a new mixtape coming out soon and it features the likes of the Pharell, Pusha T, DJ Benzi and Clinton Sparks to name a few.

Rondooooooooooooooo

29 points. 18 rebounds. 13 assists. Top 3 point guard in the league. He is becoming a superstar in these playoffs. Huge win. Tony Allen was also a great asset off the bench. Let's head back to Cleveland baby.

Kicking a MAn When He's Down

First Beckett blows a key opening game against the Yanks. Then the Celtics don't even show up to a crucial game three, at home no less! Then the night presents a glimmer of hope, The Killah B's overcome a 3-1 deficit to tie the game up with 30 seconds left. Only to lose in over time. It was one of those nights were I had spent so much time, money and energy on these teams and I was given nothing but a headache back. I have very little hope for the Sox to salvage two game with Sabathia and Burnett pitching and the Celtics are now playing in must win games for the rest of the series. The only team I can breathe easy about is the Bruins, in 160 series in which a team has held a 3 games to none lead that team has won 158 of those series, I would have to say history is on our side.

Celtics Game 3. Bruins Game 4. Sox Yanks.

A trifecta of Boston sports MAnia tonight. I am praying for three big wins. I think the Flyers will come out hungrier then they have in the series but a sweep would be sweet. Celtics have looked great in Cleveland I hope the rest and home court advantage gives them even more life. Not to mention I will be heckling LeBron from behind the Cavs bench for 48 minutes of a Beantown beat down. As for the Sox, it will be up to Josh Beckett to kick this series off to a good start. It never hurts to MAke up ground on the Yanks early in the season. This is one of those days where it feels aMAzing to be a sports fan and be from Boston.

Papi

This was taken by yours truly about ten minutes ago. It was tough to get a picture with him myself. He loved the college chicks. He's hitting home runs again and he was joking about tequilla with us so I think we can all stop worrying about him. He's at BC promoting Vitamin Water and to watch some of the BC FSU baseball game. Viva Big Papi!

Techno Thursday

In honor of it being the last day of class and ModStock I thought what a better way to enjoy the day then some quality techno jams. Last night my cinco de mayo was spent listening to merengue and country so this Techno detox is very necessary.

Killah C's

It was huge to grab game 2 after blowing the lead in game 1. Rondo and a surprise visit from what looked like an entirely new Rasheed Wallace led the way and built a 25 point lead which the Caviliers could not extinguish. This team has outplayed the Cavs in 6 out of the 8 quarters in the series and as we return home I hope to see the Celtic pride of 08 grab these two home games and put the pressure back on MVP LeBron and the Cavs. I will be behind the Cavs bench for game 3 and hope to see the real Truth stand up. The MAn has been rather quiet and tonight battling foul trouble was mediocre. Home is where his heart is and I expect a huge game 3 from Pauly P.

B's Up 2-0

Milan Lucic scored in the third period on a snipe to put the Bruins up 2-0 in the Eastern Conference Semis. This team is quietly becoming the darlings of Beantown. If the C's lose tonight and go down 2-0, not to mention the lackluster start by the Sox, Boston's energy and faith will be with the Black and Gold. They are extremely fun to watch and with no true superstar it is an entire team effort. Tukka Rask is becoming a star in net and the TD Garden rocks as these games are played. My new wish is to go to a Bruins playoff game and see another great B's win. Heading to Philly I hope he B's get a least one W coming back to Boston.

Dick Ridin ObaMA

Last Night Boondocks came back on. This video is a spoof of ObaMA MAnia. The show airs on Sundays at 1130.

13 Days Left

It is shocking to think I am this close to being halfway done with college. Not to be cliché but it has gone by way to fast. Only 13, which by the way is my mother's favorite number, my days until the beauty and leisure of summer is bestowed upon me. Like before any big break or end of a school year it gets increasingly harder to stay focused. I was going to write a list of things to good you sane and occupied but I haven't figured out how to effectively stay engaged during these last few weeks. For instance, today it was 87 degrees outside. How is anyone supposed to want to go into the library and prepare for a Public Speaking final? It comes down to pure will and nothing else. There are a thousand of things I could have took part in today but instead I spent three hours banging out a speech that I will deliver tomorrow morning at about 925am with relative ease. After thinking about finishing the speech I realized studying and almost all of getting things done in college, which is extremely hard good weather or not, is simply mind of matter. Whether it is putting in an extra couple of hours of studying or whether to lift weights it always comes down to personal will and strength. So as another school year winds down and life starts to become more serious and real I remind myself and any of you that when faced with a difficult decision or pain in the ass Stats test just remember to be strong and do the shit you have to but don't want to.

In saying all this the next 13 days will determine a lot of my near future. I have to find another job. I have to complete 5 final exams. I have to refund my summer school tuition. I have to find another job. I mentioned that twice because it has been a struggle to find something new and beneficial. Hopefully either the Winchester Country Club or Woburn YMCA hire me! Once exams end and summer starts there is an entirely new set of problems to worry about. Gas. Bills. Booze. Money. Work. But as long as the sun shines like it did today I am sure the next 13 days as well as the subsequent 100 or so days of summer will be immaculate.
